This card was inspired by a watercolor print I found on Pinterest. I enjoyed pulling from several different stamp sets and figuring out what I loved about summer.
I actually used ten different stamp sets for this card. I pulled many more, but these made the final cut. They are:
Hero Arts: Produce and Seeds, Flower Garden, Rain or Shine, January Kit, February Kit
Honey Bee Stamps: Little Pickup
My Favorite Things: Our Story
Penny Black: Patisserie
Simon Says Stamp: Seeing Stars
I started with a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper, cut to 6x4.5. I wrote the phrase "Summer Favorites" in pencil as a jumping off point to later embellish with ink for a hand lettered look. I stamped the images using Distress Ink in Antique Linen using the Misti to ensure I got the spacing right. It was important to leave enough space to write in the phrases for each item. I also took the ink off the bottom of the cupcake, so I could turn it into an ice cream cone. I chose to remove the ink rather than mask it because it was easier.
Once the images were stamped I added in the phrases for each image using first a pencil and then covering them with Faber Castill Pitt pens in extra small and small. I also drew a couple simple bees and the dotted lines behind them, which I also traced in pen.
I used Prima Marketing watercolors in tropicals to paint the images, and then embellished it using Nuvo drops in white and jewels in Rainbow Sparkle mix by Lucy's Cards.
When I started this card I wasn't sure where it would end up. But it struck me as I was identifying my favorite things, so the inside sentiment would apply in several situations.
